Reem Acason - Watercolour Artist EXHIBITED at the Gallery 2nd - 27th July 2016 - Exhibiting again in 2018 My work is in response to themes surrounding my Middle Eastern heritage. My paintings depict birds, which migrate to, or are native to the Middle East. I have painted them on pages taken from a book of Arabian folklore. They are an exploration of what it means to be 'native', where we 'belong' and where is 'home'.
I have also produced two series of monoprints based on the landscape of Bahrain. My black and white monoprints find patterns in aerial views, which are evocative of the traditional geometric patterns typical to the region. My seascapes try to capture a fragment of time, a moment of flight and the very evocative colours of the region: chalky blue skies, turquoise seas and milky grey sand.
